I am Jamie, and I would like to teach at the elementary level. Currently, I live in the state of Connecticut. While interning in law enforcement some time ago, a detective and I created a "citizens academy" for keeping the public informed about our legal system. This created a path for me, while still in college, to meet students and individuals who were not in the standard educational school system. I learned I had a knack for helping these people improve their communication skills. It is imperative to note here, that this was a learning experience for me. Often, instructors can learn just as well from their students. This is an essential asset in teaching. It improves one's ability to communicate in a variety of subjects. As a result, I have had a wide variety of accomplishments. I later worked as a behavioral interventionist at an alternative school, where I learned how to connect with non-traditional students. It has also encouraged me to pursue a master's degree in education. Now I want to teach kids ages six to ten in a classroom setting. More importantly, I want them to teach me. One thing a teacher or tutor should never forget is that teaching is a learning experience.
