I received a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology from Grand Valley State University. I am now working on my master's in Infectious Disease and Microbiology at the University of Pittsburgh. I have over a decade of tutoring experience where I've taught a wide variety of subjects to a special needs student, kindergartners, and elementary students. At my university, I worked as a teacher's assistant in the microbiology lab, where I helped students conduct experiments and use laboratory equipment. As a teacher, it is important to structure each lesson in such a way that it accommodates each student. One should teach lessons that are both fun and engaging, but also in such a manner that the students are learning the content covered. The most important part of being a good tutor is demonstrating the material in such a way that the student can draw upon his or her own experiences and relate to the material.I strive to set my students up for success, which I achieve by mixing up various teaching styles. It is imperative to accommodate students of all learning styles, such auditory and visual learners. I employ techniques, such as mnemonic devices and flash cards, to help my students memorize and understand the material covered.
